ABOUT US
The Interlachen Methodist Church is a Bible believing family who desires to follow the example of Christ in our lives. We believe that the Bible is the undeniable Word of God and the guidance in our lives. We are friendly and have a casual attitude and casual dress, but are serious about the Good News of Jesus Christ and that it is centered around Bible-based preaching that is both timeless and pertinent to today. We have many ministries and are sure you can find a place to fit right in.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Interlachen Methodist Church is from Matthew 28:16-20. We are called to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
At the Interlachen Methodist Church, we believe this mission begins right in our community. We celebrate the opportunity to share the Good News with everyone. The great commandment that was given to us in Mark 12:30-31 is: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your mind and with all your strength. Second, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." What better way to show our love, then to share our God.
OUR PASTOR
Reverend David K. Miller served as Senior Chaplain at Putnam Correctional Institution for 24 years. God called him to be a pastor in the United Methodist Church beginning July 1, 2020. He has been an active member at Interlachen Methodist Church for 24 years. He graduated from Florida Bible College in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Education and Theology. He graduated with a second Bachelor's degree in Greek from Bryan College in 1982. He earned his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1986. In 1992 he completed a Master's degree in Counseling from Liberty University. He loves teaching the Word of God, preaching, and counseling.
OUR COMMUNITY
The Town of Interlachen, Florida, is located in Putnam County, Florida. Interlachen means “between the Lakes” which is evident as you drive through the area. The Town’s population is approximately 1,515. The Town was settled in the late 1870’s when the building of a railroad opened the area. Our church was built in 1889 and has been active in our community since that time. Our church is located approximately 28 miles east of Gainesville, Florida traveling on Route 20.
MINISTRY TEAM
There are a lot of bumps on life's highway and sometimes it's tough to choose which way to go. If you are trying to decide which way to turn, feel broken down and need some help or just want a friend to share the ride, our ministry teams can help make sense of the trip and give you the support and encouragement you need. As a family, we work together to serve God, our members, families, and community. We have several ministries including ministries that we participate with other churches.
